Enneatype 4 - the Romantic

Introduction

Everybody perceive reality through a system of lens:
- The instinct (conservation): visceral / physical
- The feeling (relationship): emotional
- The thought (adaptation): mental


Dimensions are important

The contact with the environment gives rise to the 3 adaptive reaction, which correspond to 3 of the basic emotions:
- Anger, which has its roots in the instinctive sphere
- Pain and Addiction, which has its roots in the emotional sphere
- Fear that has its roots in the mental sphere

Individuals in childhood, acting for their own welfare, they try to make up for the deficiencies of the environment.
The adaptive reaction, elicit responses in the individual and they structure the character.

The type 4 belongs to the types of emotional dimension

Characteristics of emotional dimension
- She has to deal with self-image and therefore has problems with pain, sadness and even shame.
- On a deeper level the qualities of the heart are her true identity.
- She tries to influence others.
- She is oriented to the past.
- She is based on the need to belong and to approve, on dependence and the need for external support to self-esteem.
- "If I take him to love me, he cannot attack me"
- She has emotional intelligence, dominated by the feeling and affectivity as a faculty of judgment.

Directions: Extraversion, Introversion and Avoidance


Within each psychological dimension (ISTINCTIVE, EMOTIONAL, MENTAL), there is a special way to cope with the emotion of their area of origin, using the extroversion or introversion emotional response.
Jung argues that there is an ability, an attitude that characterizes the orientation of the psyche.
Introversion and extraversion, are both present in everyone, but one of the two trends is dominant.
Introversion:
Is the tendency to look inward, organize reality starting from the inner self. The introvert depicts the world with personal schemas.
Extraversion:
is the orientation towards the external reality, because the input is coming from there.
is the opening to what is outside the self. Their thinking, feeling and acting are in relation to external factors.
Avoidance:
Then there is a third intermediate mode, the avoidant. A way of being that tends to deny. In this way, the visceral, emotional or mental area is hidden, removed.

The type 4 belongs to the emotional dimension in the introverted direction.


Characteristics of Four
- She tries to solve her insecurity through the development of a unique conception of self.
- She tends to overreach. She thinks of himself as an individual special than the others.
- She likes to be in a group.
- She is possessive and selfish, will love as attachment.
- She makes experience of self-pity and fear of loneliness.
- She is lazy, but compassionate.
- She is collaborative with tolerance and receptivity.
- Very sensitive to space.

Type 4 in order to grow and develop her talents must develop the qualities of Will and Power.
She must integrate her strategy of behavior, which leads her to do everything in order to feel unique, through openness to others and through the development of wise will.
